Ball bearings
Ball bearings change the friction mode of bearings and use rolling friction. There are some steel balls or steel columns between two iron rings, and some grease is used for lubrication. This method more effectively reduces the friction between the bearing surfaces and effectively increases the service life of the fan bearing, thereby reducing the heat generated by the radiator and extending its service life. The disadvantage is that the process is more complicated, resulting in higher costs, and also brings higher working noise.
Oil-retaining bearings
Oil-containing bearings (Sleeve Bearing) are sleeve bearings that use sliding friction and use lubricating oil as a lubricant and drag reducer. It can be said to be the most common bearing technology on the market today. Due to its low cost and simple manufacturing, many products including well-known brands are still using it. Its advantages are quietness, low noise and low price during initial use.
Magnetic bearings
The motor of the magnetic bearing adopts the magnetic suspension (Magnetic System, MS) design, which uses magnetic force to suspend the rotor in the air, so that there is no mechanical contact between the rotor and the stator. The principle is that the magnetic induction line is perpendicular to the magnetic suspension line, and the shaft core is parallel to the magnetic suspension line, so the weight of the rotor is fixed on the running track, and the shaft core is almost unloaded to support the direction of the opposite magnetic suspension line, so that the entire rotor is suspended in the air on the fixed running track. Compared with traditional ball bearings and oil-containing bearings, magnetic bearings do not have mechanical contact, and the rotor can run at a very high speed. It has the advantages of low mechanical wear, low energy consumption, low noise, long life, no lubrication, and no oil pollution. It is particularly suitable for special environments such as high speed, vacuum, and ultra-clean. Magnetic suspension is actually just an auxiliary function, not an independent bearing form. Specific applications must be combined with other bearing forms, such as magnetic suspension + ball bearings, magnetic suspension + oil-containing bearings, magnetic suspension + vaporized bearings, etc.
